DocsMaple Proxy

Use Maple with Goose

Point Block's Goose AI agent at Maple Proxy through its OpenAI provider or a custom OpenAI-compatible provider, so its requests stay private.

Goose is Block’s open-source AI agent. It can use Maple Proxy through its OpenAI-compatible provider settings.

Before you start

  • Start the proxy. These steps assume it runs on http://127.0.0.1:8080.
  • Choose a Maple model that supports tool use. Goose relies on tool calls.

Goose Desktop

  1. Open Settings, then the Models tab, and select Configure providers.
  2. Select Add Custom Provider.
  3. Choose the OpenAI-compatible type, and enter:
    • API URL: http://127.0.0.1:8080/v1
    • API key: your Maple API key
    • Models: the Maple model IDs you want to use
  4. Select Create Provider, then switch to one of its models.

Goose CLI

Goose’s built-in OpenAI provider reads the host from OPENAI_HOST. Its default path, v1/chat/completions, already matches the proxy:

Shell
export OPENAI_HOST=http://127.0.0.1:8080
export OPENAI_API_KEY=your-maple-api-key
export GOOSE_PROVIDER=openai
export GOOSE_MODEL=gpt-oss-120b
goose session

You can also run goose configure, choose Configure Providers, then OpenAI, and enter the host and key when asked. The CLI doesn’t accept custom model names in that flow, so set the model with GOOSE_MODEL or --model.

Images

Goose can send screenshots and images. The proxy accepts request bodies up to 50 MiB, which leaves room for them. Pick a model that accepts image input.
